A Telephone Exchange is an equipment used in telecommunication network to interconnect PSTN  and business telephone lines  and established telephone calls between the subscriber in the digital signals.

Space Division:- A fixed physical path is set up between input and output terminating calls.

Time Division:- Sharing of same physical path on time based by multiple calls at a same time frame.
